Workforce and Development Program
The Hunnicutt Foundation is committed to building pathways to economic stability and long-term opportunity for San Francisco’s underserved community members. Too many residents—particularly in historically excluded neighborhoods—face systemic barriers to employment, including limited access to training, mentorship, and supportive services. Our Employment and Workforce Development Program directly responds to these inequities by creating culturally responsive, community-driven opportunities that equip participants with the skills, confidence, and networks needed to succeed in today’s job market.
The program offers a multi-tiered approach to workforce readiness. Participants gain hands-on training in high-demand industries, career coaching, and financial literacy workshops that prepare them to navigate both immediate employment needs and long-term career advancement. By pairing technical training with wraparound support such as childcare referrals, transportation assistance, and mental wellness resources, the program ensures that participants are not just placed in jobs but supported to thrive in them.
Central to our approach is building relationships with local employers, unions, and educational institutions to create pipelines into living-wage careers. The program also fosters leadership and peer mentorship, encouraging participants to return as coaches and role models for future cohorts. In doing so, the Hunnicutt Foundation not only increases individual economic mobility but also strengthens entire communities through intergenerational support and shared success.
Ultimately, this initiative is about more than employment—it is about equity, dignity, and empowerment. By investing in underserved residents, the Hunnicutt Foundation is helping transform workforce development into a catalyst for social change, ensuring that all San Franciscans have the opportunity to build sustainable futures for themselves and their families.
