Racism and
Inequality in America
Past........how did it all begin?
Present........why are we still facing racism and inequality in America?
Future........how are we going to affect change and close the gaps?
Racial inequality is an imbalance in the distribution of power, economic resources, and opportunities. This imbalance has manifested in American society in many ways ranging from racial disparities in wealth, poverty rates, police brutality, bankruptcy, housing patterns, educational opportunities, unemployment rates, and incarceration rates. Current racial inequalities in the U.S. have their roots in over 300 years of cultural, economic, physical, legal, and political discrimination.
